Susan reviews the Igigi O’Hara dress

I am proud to say that I now have four Igigi dresses hanging in my closet, all timeless, all as fashionably fresh as the day I received them. My latest addition, thanks to Yuliya Raquel and Wendy Weetabix is the O’Hara dress in purple. The thing that amazes me about the Igigi dresses is the fact that they can be squished into the tiniest of bags,  left there for days then pulled out and looks as wrinkle-free as if they had just returned from the dry cleaner. They are absolutely the thing to pack if you are traveling, need fashionable, comfortable clothes but have limited baggage space. The feel of the fabric is amazing… cool and soft and clingy in all the right places.

The O’Hara has ruching and buttons down the left side which hug my waist and hips to give a lovely curve to my otherwise straight up and down shape. At first, I didn’t like the buttons at all. They are large and tend to make a little rattle when I walk. After many compliments from the Weetacon crowd, though, I changed my mind. I like the way the neck line gives a wrap dress look and covers up my chest so I can wear this dress to work. I think it will cross all seasons well…with some knee boots in the winter and strappy sandals in the summer. The long sleeves give some nice coverage for air conditioned offices, too. I can’t forget the office to night out option, either. If I add some sparkly jewelry and a little eye-liner I’ll be ready for a fabulous date.

I did discover something a little odd about the fit of the dress. No matter which way I tug and shift, the dress rides up a little in the back. I can’t figure if it’s the fit around my shoulders or just the way it’s cut or maybe it’s my rear-end. It’s not hugely noticeable just slightly uncomfortable. Whatever, it won’t stop me from wearing this gem at least once a week. Igigi love is a wonderful thing.

  1. I DO so love that dress on you and I did not notice it riding up at all. You are one hot mamma!
I am like a kid in the candy store with IGIGI. I love the Vika dress in black (almost pulled the one fred got off of her body). I love the Claudette dress with that sassy little sash of red. I would wear either of these dresses year round. To work, play, out and about or to interviews.
And to be completely honest, their outerwear is to die for. Like the Plus Size Rainy Day Trench Coat in Navy…. *drool!*.

  2. You were smokin’ in that dress! I am eyeing the Tropical Beauty maxi dress that June wore — it would be perfect for my nephew’s wedding this summer. Also, everything else.

  3. You totally rocked that dress! Perfection for your new job, right? 🙂

I am eyeballing the Leigh lace dress in the pretty pretty gold for this year’s holiday festivity whirlwind….black satin strappy sandals, a little gold clutch, a demure fascinator in my hair. Aw yeah, holiday spirit indeed!

  4. That dress looks fantastic on you! I’m loving the Thelma Draped Dress in Coral/Charcoal or the Cora dres. Either would be perfect for work, as well as a party or attending a wedding!

  5. Can I comment on my own dress? I want, want, want the Daphne Wrap dress to wear with some platform sandals and sparkly jewelry.

  6. Work it! Work it!

I honestly think I could get a fair bit of use of the Lourdes Earrings.

  7. I love this dress on you! I have a long Igigi wishlist right now, but near the very tippy-top is the Vintage Floral dress. It is colorful and cheery, the perfect summer dress.

  8. Your Igigi dress certainly looks attractive on you! I really like the Angie Dress in lilac…I can just see that as a perfect dress to wear to Keeneland for the Spring Meet.

  9. I love your Tyra Banks-approved model stare in the last photo! You look amazing. (And, like you, I’m pining away for the Daphne wrap dress.)

  10. You’re wearing one of the dresses that caught my eye, and I’m glad to see you model it…it looks terrific! However, I’d have to go with the Nicole dress.

  11. I looked longingly at that very dress and finally figured it wouldn’t work on me, but boy howdy does it work for you! Beauty! (I landed on the Odette in black I think…)

  12. I am dying to get the Angie dress in Lilac for a wedding I have coming up…with some nice heels and some silver jewelry.

  13. Love it and agree it does not look like it’s riding up at all. I LOVE their dresses but don’t own one. If I did, it would be the Hayleigh dress in midnight blue.

  14. I love the Kelly Dress in Black. I would accessorize it with a pretty necklace. It work be great to wear to an upcoming wedding. 🙂

  15. I would wear the Provence dress out to dinner – some nice heels and a clutch are all thats needed.

  16. I think the Nicole dress would be a great, kinda sassy work dress. I’d keep the accessories simple. Maybe some nice earrings and a nice heel.

  17. You look great in that dress!

The Loren dress! I have gained more weight after the birth of my daughter, and nothing fits right. It’s made me feel very lumpy and unattractive. I need something in a bold color with va-va-voom lines to wear on a date with my husband. (To accessorize, I’d wear the gold earrings and necklace from my wedding. I’m not much of an accessorizer.)

  18. What a lovely purple! I want the Ali Dress. Kimono sleeves are my shopping bane – I see them, and the top/dress goes right into my basket. Along with some flats and sparkly earrings, I could wear it anywhere and everywhere!

  19. I love the Rita vintage. I adore vintage but it’s nearly impossible to find in plus sizes. So cute. Would be great at the two weddings I have to attend this summer.

  20. That dress is lovely on you. I love the vintage floral dress. I think it would be great to wear to a summer wedding or event. I would wear cute wedges and keep the accessories simple.

  21. I’m in love with the Stella gown! I would wear it everywhere, even if I was overdressed! 😉

  22. I love the plum color on you. I recently bought the Michelle Gown in plum and fell in love with the color even more when I pulled it out of the box. Although my wishlist on the Igigi website is long, I would love the Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress and can envision wearing it on vacation to a special occasion dinner. The dress is already so beautiful, I would accessorize it very simply with a pair of dangly earrings and simple strappy heels. I would hope I could carry it with the confidence that you exude in the O’Hara! 🙂

  23. You look so lovely in the dress! I love where the buttons fall.

I would buy the gorgeousness that is the Naomi Gown. It is absolutely astounding. I just love it!!! I would wear it to a wedding that I have coming up and would be looking for any occasion, I can to show it off. The colors are so beautiful and it is absolutely romantic and screams elegance.

As for accessorizing, I have these beautiful drop earrings, with diamonds that are similar to the dusty pink color of the skirt, that I think would pair wonderfully. And as well to finish it off, a simple bracelet.

  24. Wow, I love THIS dress! Looks great!

  25. That is a very nice color on you and I love the silhouette!

Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress is my choice from Igigi it just suits my personal style and matches my favorite earrings, plus I’d wear it everywhere.

  26. I love the Kayden dress. It would be perfect to wear to work!

  27. Love this dress, and Susan looks amazing. The detailing on this dress is awesome!

  28. I love that one on you! It’s cut like the green&brown Champs Elysee I have. I am lusting after a Vanessa in green to wear to work and then out on the town (just change up the jewelry!)

  29. Um…I want that dress!! Black heels! Tiny bag. Work dinner.

  30. Rainforest Paradise Maxi Dress is what I would choose. Nude sandals, as to not draw attention away from the detailing of the skirt. Pearl drop earrings, and hair in a sleek up-do to compliment neckline and my face shape. I would wear it to a New Year’s Eve event.

  31. Just love this, such a great color!

  32. This dress looks fab on you, and I love the color & cut so much I’ve got to pick this one for me too! Perfect shade of plum <3

  33. That’s a great dress and it looks wonderful on you! I would go for the Plus Size Tanja Tunic in Black. Even tho it’s not a dress I love it!! I would wear it out clubbing with my black leggings or jeggings, Chunky Siver Jewelry, and my strappy dominatrix looking shoes, lol. With dark smokey makeup.

  34. You do look fabulous in that dress! Yeah, Igigi! I love the suits they had on the site recently. I have the Harlow jacket and pants and they are absolutely my “go to” suit when I have to meet with important clients or lead a big meeting. The quality is out of this world!

  35. I think the buttons would be a little off on my body shape, but for a smaller fat this dress looks GORGEOUS on you! I’m a bit worried about the ‘riding up in the back’ thing because my tookus is large and in charge, but I think this is the type of dress I’d pair with leggings and flats to dress it down. Regardless, it looks amazing on you!

  36. This dress is awfully flattering, yet perfect for the office. Great on a curvy girl. The placement and contrast of the buttons makes it flirty and eye-catching. And the plum color is very flattering.

  37. I would so love to have the En Vogue Vintage Polka Dot Dress in black! I’d pair it with a red shrug for a splash of color for work and take it for a night look without the shrug. This would be perfect for summer weddings, graduations, just about anything! I LOVE this dress!!!

  38. I’d wear the Rainforest maxi dress with understated but chic matching accessories to my (also plus-sized) friend’s wedding!!
