Susan reviews the Olympia Maxi Dress and the Leigh Lace Dress in Gold

Another Weetacon is in the history books and another Igigi fashion event is ready for review.  This year I received two dresses for free in exchange for agreeing to wear them to official Weetacon happenings and posting an honest review so you will be encouraged to visit the Igigi website and order lots of gorgeous clothes for yourself.

My first is called The Olympia Plus Size Maxi Dress and here I am wearing it.

The fabric is soft, flowing, and feels wonderful against the skin.  It’s easy to slip over your head and very comfortable to wear.  The length is perfect for a tall gal like me; I’m very happy to have found a maxi dress that fits like a maxi and not up above my ankle.  I love the mint color with gold and blue accents, very spring-like and will be a wonderful choice for warm weather wear.  I highly recommend this dress because of the fit, comfort, and quality.

My next dress is the Leigh Plus Size Lace Dress in Gold. Wow, just wow on this one.  Definitely for an evening or cocktail-type event but oh so gorgeous I find myself thinking of places to go just to put it back on. I wore this to the opening Weetacon party and had lots of compliments; my favorite was that I shimmered when I walked across the room.  As all Igigi dresses do, this one packs well and I plan to take it on my first cruise in November.  I especially love the bolero-style jacket that comes as a bonus.  It was great to have it to add as a little cover up in the chilly Wisconsin evening.  A couple of  disappointing features are that, as many other reviewers mention, the arm openings are way too tight making the dress uncomfortable and the side zipper is very difficult to close.  But, repeating my trusty mantra…beauty has no pain and I will wear this dress just so I can shimmer my way through a crowd.

  1. You look very nice and I agree the second one would be perfect for a cruise. I am interested in either the Hayleigh or the Wren Wrap Dress for a fundraiser that I have to attend.

  2. I missed seeing you in the Leigh dress, holy hotness! That dress is fantabulous on you. Love the shimmer.

Personally, I’m looking to expand my workwear collection, I would love to own the Monroe Skirt in Navy, and the Belmont Skirt in Ebony Damask. A Mena Jacket in Navy would also be a great addition, but let’s be honest that’s just the top three on the long list of Igigi things I want in my closet. 😉

  3. You were so hot in that gold dress I had to fan myself. You are going to rock that cruise!

For me I’d like the Domani coat, it’s so hard to find good spring/fall plus size jackets. I also want to get the Greenwich top in all the colors I don’t have because it’s just such a perfect “throw on and look great” piece.

  4. Leigh is indeed gorgeous on you!

I’m coveting the Luella Tunic in Emerald, which I think would be great for work. (Pretty as the Igigi dresses are, they’re a bit fancy for my office.)

  5. The Leigh is gorgeous! Too bad about the arm openings – one of my pet peeves as well! Still, you look amazing in both dresses! I’ve got my eye on the Thalia gown in Rose Garden that’s in the new Look Book, or the Jadyn Maxi Dress. Either one would be perfect for my high school reunion this summer!

  6. Love the gold! gorgeous.

  7. You look amazing! That gold dress is stunning. Are the problems something a tailor could fix? Mine has worked wonders on some “problem” pieces in my wardrobe.

  8. Oops, forgot! I’m partial to the Neve Wrap dress – I think it would be great to wear out and about this spring!

  9. OMG, you are so sizzling hot! You guys are going to have the best time ever on that cruise! I’d like the Tiffany dress in either pink or jade, but honestly, you just sold me on the Leigh. AMAZING!!!

  10. Love both! The maxi looks beautiful for an al fresco dinner or drinks and dancing, and the gold looks like you’re ready for a posh event. I’ve got my eye on the Janus Dress in Pink Pindot and the Ilana or Tropical Beauty maxi — perfect for summer!

  11. I like the Fayette dress or the Nencia Cocktail Dress.

  12. That gold dress was made for you, Susan.

I don’t go to many cocktail parties, but I am walking through rainy parking lots a lot lately. So I’m super keen on the Domani Top Coat.

  13. Love both of those on you. Are you packing both for the cruise? Because the Leigh would be perfect for the night you’re invited to sit at the Captain’s table.

I have my eye on the Deora. I will wear it when you come to visit me in NYC!

  14. I love the Hayleigh dress in Midnight Blue – I’ve been coveting it for a while!

  15. I was really glad to see your review of the Olympia Maxi Dress in mint green. This dress is the one I’d choose out of all Igigi dresses because it looks so light and breezy – able to withstand the searing heat of an upcoming Arizona summer. In such a dress I imagine when it’s 120 degrees F outside (yes, it does get that hot here) I’d look more like a cool mint flower than a sorry wilted leaf.

I agree with your “Wow” reaction to the Leigh Lace Dress in Gold. It looks truly beautiful on you – quite stunning. Per beauty, pain, and tight armpits: I recently found an excellent tailor and brought several of my Igigi dresses to her to get them fixed just right. I fully intend to wear THE HECK out of my Igigi dresses whenever and wherever I want, and don’t want any discomfort to block me from doing that. As it is, the quality of Igigi clothes bring attention to a curvy girl, attention that I’m not used to. For years, I preferred to hide. Not anymore. So to the tailor my clothes go. Jus’ sayin’.

  16. I really love the Cadence Dress in Black/Ivory (http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/cadence-dress-in-black-ivory.html). I would wear it to my college graduation in May (ahhhhhh, I don’t want to grow up). A lot of my friends are talking about graduation dresses, and I think it’s a bit much to make a big deal about it, but I thought this dress was really classic looking and looks like it would be flattering for my apple shape, and I would love to wear it 🙂

  17. I was on the fence about the Olympia until I saw it in person on you and now I WANT ONE! It’ll be perfect for summer parties on the patio and even more perfect for a romantic dinner on the beach during our tropical vacation this fall.

  18. That first dress works so perfectly with your tattoos – they compliment them nicely!! And it’s nice to see a maxi dress that doesn’t show maxi ammounts of cleavage! (not that your cleavage isnt wonderful, lol)

BUT I *LOVE* the gold Leigh dress – it is fabulous on you. It’s unfortunate to hear that the armholes being too small – something you would think a plus size designer would be mindful of. But Igigi’s gold dress all look so fancy!! Some places I don’t think can do gold dresses tastefully, but Igigi NAILS IT! You, my dear, look radiant!!! I really want to wear the golden Lolita Plisse Dress for my bachelorette party – it’d be so sparkly and perfect! I’m SO happy that I’ve found Igigi dresses!

  19. I love the gold dress and would totally rock that for a holiday party or on a cruise. I personally love the Fayette dress in Merlot. So pretty for a nice dinner out.

  20. WOW! Both dresses look amazing. I would like to believe that I would have pushed through the uncomfortable arms, but just this weekend I unzipped a fabulous dress in the car and turned around to change, all for the sake of comfort!

I would love to try Igigi’s Feugo dress. I have been eyeing it for awhile and I’m pretty sure I would wear it everywhere.

  21. You light up in the Leigh dress! I’m lusting after the Janus dress in pink pindot. Mostly because I like saying and typing “pink pindot”, but also because it would look great at work.

  22. Ooh the Leigh in gold is just stunning on you! I’d like to have one of those for myself – it’d be great for holiday parties next season!

  23. Gorgeous! I must have the Letta Dress in Mandarin Rose.

  24. Susan, you are rocking that gold dress! I love it!

I would love to try the Tavi top in Tropical or the Nico skirt in Midnight Sahara. I think they would fit nicely into my work wardrobe.

  25. I love the Olympia maxi on you – gorgeous!

It is hard to narrow down my favorite to one. I love the nico skirt in midnight sahara (with matching top) and the jadyn maxi dress (I LOVE blue and purple!) My niece is turning 1 in a couple weeks, so a brand-new pretty dress would be terrific to wear to her birthday party.

  26. I’d love to win the Avril maxi dress with shrug because it is very classic looking and very pretty. I’d wear it this summer everywhere.

  27. I love the Leigh dress on you! I love the marisol dress in pomegranate. I have a very fancy wedding that I’m attending this summer and it would be perfect.

  28. Wow, tough to choose but you were really fantastic in both dresses. I liked the maxi for myself. I also love the Tiffany but if I had to choose between dresses, I’d also go with the Chelsea dress too. I love how all of you went outside of your comfort zone in getting these dresses — that’s one of the best things I’ve enjoyed about these links.

  29. I think I would choose the Isis dress for work; my work wardrobe could use a bit of a pick-me-up.

  30. The Olympia maxi is awesome!!! I’m just too short 🙁 I think the Neve dot print is more my style and would be perfect for an October wedding I am going to.

  31. I can’t make up my mind if I like the hemline of the Olympia or not, but I agree it looks great with your tattoos.

The Regina Dress in Ruby Argentan Lace looks like something I would like to get for my next special occasion.

  32. I’m not a fan of high/low hemlines, but that looks fantastic on you!

I really want the Linea Plus Size Maxi Dress in Vermillion. That color is gorgeous.
