I had so much fun modeling the Tropical Beauty dress, that when Wendy Bix suggested I could write another review for my IGIGI Francesca dress in black for another giveaway, I said “Sure!”.

I had so much fun modeling the Tropical Beauty dress, that when Wendy Bix suggested I could write another review for my IGIGI Francesca dress in black for another giveaway, I said “Sure!”.

I bought this dress almost three years ago and it’s one of the very few dresses that IGIGI keeps in stock and is still available for sale. I can see why, because this is the kind of dress that is exactly what you’d want in a little black dress: very comfortable fabric, stretchy and completely impossible to wrinkle. You could just wad it up in your overnight bag and pull it out and it will look beautiful. While I haven’t paired this with a belt yet, it’s just great idea for mixing up the look.

I think my favorite part about this dress is how versatile it is. You can have the sweetheart neckline down a little for a sexy nighttime look or pull it up and leave a little to the imagination. The bra-friendly neckline meant that I didn’t have to buy a special bra to go with this outfit either.

Another great thing about the IGIGI Francesca dress is how completely stretchy and forgiving it is. Just about any lady knows that her weight can fluctuate from month to month (and season to season). The Francesca is appropriate for summer or winter, but because the design works so well with the stretchy material, you won’t have to worry about it looking tight if you happen to to be less active during the winter months.

You might notice in the photos that you can see through the hem of the dress, but that was mostly due to the studio lights when we were taking the photos. The dress is NOT see-through in normal conditions and is fully lined with a similar stretchy material so that you don’t have to worry about the fabric clinging to your body.

Another great thing is that the Francesca looks fantastic on several different body types and different accessories. Last year, Fredlet reviewed this same dress and you can see she paired it differently with boots where I threw on heels and flats for these photos. Fred and I are different heights as well (I’m 5’9″), but as you can see, this dress is pretty great on any lady. - June

I’ve never been much for fashion. Even as a small child I disliked dressing up. I learned that dresses meant scratchy lace digging into my neck and stiff slips scratching everywhere else. Not only were they uncomfortable, you just couldn’t climb a tree in one. I quickly established, to my mother’s chagrin, that I wasn’t having anything to do with girly frills.I’ve managed since then in pants, tee shirts and maybe a sweatshirt over the top. If I want to get fancy I wear my red polo shirt with the dinosaur embroidered on the front.

Then I went to Weetacon, was introduced to Igigi, and learned that dressing up in IGIGI can be fun. This year I was able to model the Odette IGIGI dress in olive. It is a deep olive green with a wrap style top and an obi sash. The Odette, like all the Igigi dresses I’ve worn, is insanely comfortable. The fabric feels lightweight, yet sturdy enough that I’

m not worried about stray breezes or standing in strong light. At my weight everything I try on tends to be too tight across the hips and leaves me feeling uncomfortably exposed. This dress slips on just loosely enough to be comfortable yet still look like it fits properly. I love how the skirt flows around me.

Unlike most belts that don’t quite make it all the way around, the obi sash is long enough to go around me twice and let me tie my bow wherever I like. I needed some help at first getting it on properly and tied, but I’m starting to get the hang of it.

I still don’t get dressed up very often, but now, when I have to look like a grown up, I have Igigi to make me feel feminine and well dressed. I’ve even been spotted doing a little spin to make my skirt twirl.

This year is my first time reviewing an Igigi dress. I was extremely excited after seeing the dresses last year, and because I never seem to find dresses very flattering on my shape. Igigi sent me the Lynette Sweater Dress in Navy/Grey and I couldn’t be happier.

This dress is the perfect winter dress! My very first observation was that the fabric is pretty heavy, (it is a sweater dress after all) which keeps me warm yet I didn’t get too overheated wearing it at dinner after the Igigi fashion show. Warmth is definitely a plus at my desk, since I sit directly under an air vent. It is warm enough that with the mild winter we had (here in MN) I probably could’ve handled the trip from car to work/home just fine without an added shawl or dress-jacket.

It is stylish but not too fancy to wear to work with flats and can be dressed up with some pearls and heels for other occasions. In the past I’ve tried dresses similar to this one that just didn’t hang right on my body, and brought unnecessary attention to my gut, I felt this dress did a good job of flattering my body and was a perfect cut for me – top and bottom. I was a little worried since my hip to waist ratio puts me in two different size categories, but the smaller size worked well for me.

I love the removable fabric belt, especially that you can tie it any way you want, there’s no wrong way to wear the belt with this dress, or you can go without it all together. It’s long enough that you can tie it in a small bow at your side, or you can just make a simple knot and let the remainder flow with the dress.

Personally, it’s been a while since I’ve spent $100 on any one garment, but now that I have one Igigi dress in my closet, more will definitely follow. For the money, this dress is absolutely worth it. It is so versatile; you can wear it to many different functions and events with an unlimited combination of shoes and jewelry.

Lastly, I have to note that I am categorized as an Oval shape by Igigi, and it wasn’t a shape match for this dress, but I feel it still fits and flatters me well.

I am proud to say that I now have four Igigi dresses hanging in my closet, all timeless, all as fashionably fresh as the day I received them. My latest addition, thanks to Yuliya Raquel and Wendy Weetabix is the O’Hara dress in purple.
I am proud to say that I now have four Igigi dresses hanging in my closet, all timeless, all as fashionably fresh as the day I received them. My latest addition, thanks to Yuliya Raquel and Wendy Weetabix is the O’Hara dress in purple. The thing that amazes me about the Igigi dresses is the fact that they can be squished into the tiniest of bags, left there for days then pulled out and looks as wrinkle-free as if they had just returned from the dry cleaner. They are absolutely the thing to pack if you are traveling, need fashionable, comfortable clothes but have limited baggage space. The feel of the fabric is amazing… cool and soft and clingy in all the right places.

The O’Hara has ruching and buttons down the left side which hug my waist and hips to give a lovely curve to my otherwise straight up and down shape. At first, I didn’t like the buttons at all. They are large and tend to make a little rattle when I walk. After many compliments from the Weetacon crowd, though, I changed my mind. I like the way the neck line gives a wrap dress look and covers up my chest so I can wear this dress to work. I think it will cross all seasons well…with some knee boots in the winter and strappy sandals in the summer. The long sleeves give some nice coverage for air conditioned offices, too. I can’t forget the office to night out option, either. If I add some sparkly jewelry and a little eye-liner I’ll be ready for a fabulous date.

I did discover something a little odd about the fit of the dress. No matter which way I tug and shift, the dress rides up a little in the back. I can’t figure if it’s the fit around my shoulders or just the way it’s cut or maybe it’s my rear-end. It’s not hugely noticeable just slightly uncomfortable. Whatever, it won’t stop me from wearing this gem at least once a week. Igigi love is a wonderful thing.

I really love the fabric; its a silk scarf feel and flows just as well as their other dresses do… that’s one of the things that I love about their dresses, they twirl so nicely. (Also the colors are perfect for me; score!)

This is another empire style waist, which I never in my life have been able to wear…except for the other 4 Igigi empire waist dresses I have – see where I’m going with this? I’m always impressed by the variety shapes and sizes that can wear these dresses. I think the only thing I would change for me is that the black fabric portion could be just a few inches longer or the belt could be a broad one to bridge the little bit of a gap where my waist is.

I think this one is more dressy than the other dresses that I have. The black Francesca (and the blue one as well) are super neutral so that I can either add a sweater or a coat or various bits of jewelry and make it formal or relatively casual. I’m also thinking that this particular dress needs heels but very little jewelery. Perhaps a small shawl if it is cold, but it really doesn’t need anything else as it stands on its own. Low maintenance is good for me.

Last but not least, this dress travels well-as all their dresses seem to do. I had this in a packing cube until I stopped weeping copiously from having to come home from Weetacon (elapsed time 1.5 weeks) and it wasn’t wrinkled. Really, paying the $128 for this dress would be worth it for something that fits me so well and isn’t a prima donna about handling it with kid gloves when I have to travel with it.

Here’s their model (clearly several feet taller than me) in the Vika dress (click to go to the website):

I first fell in love with the Tropical Beauty dress when I saw it online at the Igigi web site. I really wanted that one! The colors are so lovely, it really lives up to it name “Tropical Beauty”. I felt it would be perfect for our vacation to Hawaii. We go out for supper on Valentines Day on Maui at Ruth Chris and Igigi’s Tropical Beauty gown would be awesome for that special occasion.

When the dress came, it fit like a glove, but was a tad too long. My sister quickly hemmed it so it hung perfectly over the small gold heels I wore with it. I also got a purple bra and panties for my wonderful new dress. The colors blended perfectly with the straps on the dress and I didn’t worry about anything showing around the bra-friendly straps. In my jewelry box awaited my druzzy necklace which looked like it was made for the dress.

The gown was wonderfully comfortable. That is so unlike normally wearing dress clothes that you can’t wait to get out of. I was sorry at the end of the evening to have to take it off.

I was told several times at the Weetacon style show that I looked beautiful and one guy even said “stunning”. That’s quite a compliment for a 64-year-old lady.

I can’t thank Yuliya enough for this lovely creation that will join the other Igigi clothing in my closet. I know there will be more. – June
