Weetacon 2005

Our very first gathering was envisioned to be a small thing: organizers thought we’d maybe need to transport everyone in two cars if we got more than 5 attendees. Even we didn’t understand the power of Weetacon: 24 brave souls signed up to go hang out in Wisconsin with a bunch of people they’d never met before. Imagine explaining to the local Green Bay folks that you left California on a plane in March to fly to Wisconsin and hang out with bloggers… and you did so voluntarily. By the end of the weekend, we all felt as though we had somehow captured lightning in a bottle and that we could never top the magic that had occurred during that fateful inaugural Weetacon. Little did we know that the very first tiny little Weetacon was only a drop in a bucket compared to what was to come.

Sadly, we don’t have much video footage, but what we do have of the Saturday night party is pretty legendary.

Weetacon 1 took place March 4-6, 2005.
