I’ve never been much for fashion. Even as a small child I disliked dressing up. I learned that dresses meant scratchy lace digging into my neck and stiff slips scratching everywhere else. Not only were they uncomfortable, you just couldn’t climb a tree in one. I quickly established, to my mother’s chagrin, that I wasn’t having anything to do with girly frills.I’ve managed since then in pants, tee shirts and maybe a sweatshirt over the top. If I want to get fancy I wear my red polo shirt with the dinosaur embroidered on the front.
Then I went to Weetacon, was introduced to Igigi, and learned that dressing up in IGIGI can be fun. This year I was able to model the Odette IGIGI dress in olive. It is a deep olive green with a wrap style top and an obi sash. The Odette, like all the Igigi dresses I’ve worn, is insanely comfortable. The fabric feels lightweight, yet sturdy enough that I’
m not worried about stray breezes or standing in strong light. At my weight everything I try on tends to be too tight across the hips and leaves me feeling uncomfortably exposed. This dress slips on just loosely enough to be comfortable yet still look like it fits properly. I love how the skirt flows around me.
Unlike most belts that don’t quite make it all the way around, the obi sash is long enough to go around me twice and let me tie my bow wherever I like. I needed some help at first getting it on properly and tied, but I’m starting to get the hang of it.
I still don’t get dressed up very often, but now, when I have to look like a grown up, I have Igigi to make me feel feminine and well dressed. I’ve even been spotted doing a little spin to make my skirt twirl.

What a great dress for you. It looks comfortable but nice and dressy at the same time. Me, I keep looking at the Nicole dress.
That dress looks great on you, Eileen! It looks amazingly comfortable! I’ve been eyeballing either the Thelma Draped Dress in Coral/Charcoal or the Cora dress would be perfect for work, as well as a party or attending a wedding!
What a great color for you! I’m all about the Thelma dress right now, but my coveting changes daily. I missed you this year, but I’m excited for next year. 🙂
You really looked lovely in that Odette dress! I’m lusting after the Tropical Beauty dress, so that I can wear it to my nephew’s wedding this summer.
I am dying to get the Angie dress in Lilac for a wedding I have coming up…with some nice heels and some silver jewelry.
Looking good!
I love all the Angie dresses but LOVE the Hayleigh dress in midnight blue.
Even though I don’t like dresses either, I keep drooling over these dresses, too. I think the Odette would work on me as well!
The color on the Odette is great on you Eileen.
I”m lusting after the Antonia Dress, but I can’t decide between the one in Dahlia or in Lagoon Blue. Both such gorgeous colors. I suspect I would be tempted to put the dress on and just always wear it – to work, to watch TV, to sleep.
I love the Kelly Dress in Black. I would accessorize it with a pretty necklace. It work be great to wear to an upcoming wedding. 🙂
I love the Hayleigh dress! No need to accessorize but with a pair of nice heels 🙂
I think the Nicole dress would be a great, kinda sassa work dress. I’d keep the accessories simple. Maybe some nice earrings and a nice heel.
The Loren dress! I have gained more weight after the birth of my daughter, and nothing fits right. It’s made me feel very lumpy and unattractive. I need something in a bold color with va-va-voom lines to wear on a date with my husband. (To accessorize, I’d wear the gold earrings and necklace from my wedding. I’m not much of an accessorizer.)
Jealous…I wanted that dress! I want, want, want the Daphne Wrap dress to wear with some platform sandals and sparkly jewelry.
Pretty! I want the Ali Dress, because kimono sleeves make me as happy as a munchkin in a tutu! Along with some sparkly earrings and sequined flats, I’d be set for anything.
That Hayleigh dress in Ivory/Black has caught my eye as yet another awesome work dress option. I have the perfect little red peep toe pumps to wear with it, and matching red jewelry.
IGIGI is amazing, no? YES! Yes it is! I have been very happy with all of my pieces and I am so excited about their sweater dress material… I love how it drapes and flows and moves. Not too clingy, not to heavy. So this dress is awesome Eileen!
I would love to snatch up the Tallulah Dress in Black/White because WHOA. Also, Yum! I would wear that to work, to dinner with friends or to something at my parent’s country club. I think it could work with sandals, flats or heels.
It’s like a virtual shopping spree! I like the dress you are wearing a lot! I see flats, boots or heels working with this. I could totally wear it to work or social events. With that belt, no necklace, but maybe some statement earrings.
I love the vintage floral dress. I think it would be great to wear to a summer wedding or event. I would wear cute wedges and keep the accessories simple.
The Tatiana Dress would make my day. I’d throw on some sandals and wear it to the beach, shopping, and everywhere I needed to go.
I loved your review and can identify with never having a particular affinity for dressing up before being introduced to Igigi. I’ve always wondered about the comfort and fit of the sashes and belts, and I appreciated hearing how much you even liked the sash that came with the dress. I have a fairly long wishlist for Igigi right now, but the Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress would be an absolute dream for a romantic summer vacation for me.
I would buy the gorgeousness that is the Naomi Gown. It is absolutely astounding. I just love it!!! I would wear it to a wedding that I have coming up and would be looking for any occasion, I can to show it off. The colors are so beautiful and it is absolutely romantic and screams elegance.
As for accessorizing, I have these beautiful drop earrings, with diamonds that are similar to the dusty pink color of the skirt, that I think would pair wonderfully. And as well to finish it off, a simple bracelet.
I just ordered the Nicole in Parisian Green and I am so excited – but ther eare at least 5 other dresses that give my heart an extra little pitter patter! Like the Angie dress and the Tatiana
Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress is my dress of choice. I love that one so much, I’d wear it all over the place, with my favorite earrings.
I think the dress you have on is perfect for you, so nice, but none of that scratchy stuff. I remember being a child, loving dresses, but hating how much of the lace and cuffs and things were really scratchy.
I love the Kayden dress. It would be perfect to wear to work!
Love the belt on this!!
I’d love to get the Ali Dress in multi. Add some color pop to my wardrobe!
ooh, I was looking at the Vanessa dress but that Odette is fabulous too! A little gold eyeshadow and a long scarf and I’d be set for work and a night out too!
I want the Hayleigh dress in black/ivory. I love the whole look of the dress.
The tropical beauty gown is my choice…just stuninng all on its own!
I would get the Francesca dress in black, pair it with red heels, and die of happiness.
Francesca dress in black for me! With a lovely midnight blue shawl. Would wear it to the theatre!
Rainforest Paradise Maxi Dress is what I would choose. Nude sandals, as to not draw attention away from the detailing of the skirt. Pearl drop earrings, and hair in a sleek up-do to compliment neckline and my face shape. I would wear it to a New Year’s Eve event.
I just love the Odette and you look great in it 🙂
The Francesca dress is such a stunner, I’d have to go with basic black too as it’s my must have color <3
It’s a great dress and you look great, very happy and comfortable. I’m coveting the Renata Dress in Jade Green. I would wear it with my Pink Open toe pumps, gold and silver bracelets and Plum eyeshadows. And I would wear it for date night.
Love the belt! Looks very comfortable and put together.
Love the belt!
I’d love to wear the Leigh Lace dress in Gold to my friend’s wedding, it’d get me out of my comfort zone (I’m usually not a big fan of gold, but am really interested in this dress!) and it looks super sexy!
I would definitely have to dress this up with some pops of color–my days of wearing only black are far behind me! I’ve got a pair of bright green slip-on shoes I’d pair them with, and maybe some nice earrings! Perfect for a night out with my boyfriend 🙂
The color is rich and timeless, and it’s so, so comfy. Also multi-seasonal.
I love the Angie dress in fuschia. This is just the perfect summer dress. I’d wear it to work with black heels or flats or out shopping or a fun day with friends with flat sandals and chunky jewelry.
I’d wear the Rainforest maxi dress with understated but chic matching accessories to my (also plus-sized) friend’s wedding!!
