Jorie reviews the Igigi Lynette sweater dress

This year is my first time reviewing an Igigi dress. I was extremely excited after seeing the dresses last year, and because I never seem to find dresses very flattering on my shape. Igigi sent me the Lynette Sweater Dress in Navy/Grey and I couldn’t be happier.

This dress is the perfect winter dress! My very first observation was that the fabric is pretty heavy, (it is a sweater dress after all) which keeps me warm yet I didn’t get too overheated wearing it at dinner after the Igigi fashion show. Warmth is definitely a plus at my desk, since I sit directly under an air vent. It is warm enough that with the mild winter we had (here in MN) I probably could’ve handled the trip from car to work/home just fine without an added shawl or dress-jacket.

It is stylish but not too fancy to wear to work with flats and can be dressed up with some pearls and heels for other occasions. In the past I’ve tried dresses similar to  this one that just didn’t hang right on my body, and brought unnecessary attention to my gut, I felt this dress did a good job of flattering my body and was a perfect cut for me – top and bottom. I was a little worried since my hip to waist ratio puts me in two different size categories, but the smaller size worked well for me.

I love the removable fabric belt, especially that you can tie it any way you want, there’s no wrong way to wear the belt with this dress, or you can go without it all together. It’s long enough that you can tie it in a small bow at your side, or you can just make a simple knot and let the remainder flow with the dress.

Personally, it’s been a while since I’ve spent $100 on any one garment, but now that I have one Igigi dress in my closet, more will definitely follow. For the money, this dress is absolutely worth it. It is so versatile; you can wear it to many different functions and events with an unlimited combination of shoes and jewelry.

Lastly, I have to note that I am categorized as an Oval shape by Igigi, and it wasn’t a shape match for this dress, but I feel it still fits and flatters me well.

  1. You looked lovely in that dress! I love mine too, but right now I am eyeing the Tropical Beauty maxi dress that June wore. It would be perfect for my nephew’s wedding this summer.

  2. I love that sweater dress, it has a gorgeous drape and lovely fabric! The colors are divine! It was so flattering on you. And I have the “body fits in two different size catagories” too.

I am like a kid in the candy store with IGIGI. I love the Vika dress in black (almost pulled the one fred got off of her body). I love the Claudette dress with that sassy little sash of red. I would wear either of these dresses year round. To work, play, out and about or to interviews.

  3. What a flattering dress! Very nice! The Milan dress (though very few are left) really is lovely. It would be nice for any season and pretty much any occasion!

  4. The Lynette Sweater dress looks lovely! In fact, I might have to buy one for myself. I reside in the Northeast USA and I need sweater dresses to keep warm (it’s not quite as cold as MN, but still!). I’d wear warm leggings and stylish boots with this — perfect for those days when I have meetings or special appointments.

  5. That dress is super flattering on you, whatever the shape stylist said!

I myself am now eyeballing the Claudette to add to my summer work wardrobe…that pop of red from the sash makes a muted dress so snazzy!

  6. The ShapeStylist should definitely be taken with a grain of salt. Sometimes I’ve ignored the recommendation and regretted it, but I also have a pretty good idea of what does and doesn’t work on me.

I think I need to bite the bullet and invest in the Sakura Cardigan in Chocolate. It’s just so versatile!

  7. That dress is very flattering, indeed, Jorie! I’ve been drooling over the Thelma Draped Dress in Coral/Charcoal and the Cora dress. Either would be perfect for work, a party, or attending a wedding!

  8. I would absolutely adore the Rita Vintage Polka Dot Dress in coral. It suits my vintage sensibilities perfectly and best of all, I’d be able to accessorize it to create a three-season dress. In Spring, I’d wear it with a navy blue ruffled cardigan, a gold pendant with a navy and coral embellishment, and my adorable navy blue ribbon wedges. In summer, I’d throw off the cardigan and replace it with a wide metallic bronze belt and my favorite pair of simple gold flip flops. It would work perfectly with a natural hemp beach bag, but I also have a little gold clutch that would be ideal for romantic summer dinners outdoors. When the weather grows cooler again and autumn is around the corner, I’d pair this beauty with a smart brown career jacket and chunky brown gladiator sandals with a full set of gold bangle bracelets.

  9. You do indeed look adorbs in that dress, Jorie (and your hair is also looking adorbs these days — can’t believe it’s been so long since Weetacon that it’s grown in that much!)

And now that ladyloo mentions it, I’ve been wanting that Sakura cardigan since I saw Weetabix wearing it. So cute — perfect for the weird cold spring weather we’ve been having.

  10. You are SMOKING HOT in that dress! It’s adorable! I’m in love with the Rita vintage dress in hot coral. I think I’d rock that, too. xoxo

  11. That really works on you and looks wonderful with your skin tones!
I’ve been looking at the od être dresses, but I’m thinking the cardigans might be a good thing to invest in…

  12. I like the dress better on you than I do on the model!

  13. I am dying to get the Angie dress in Lilac for a wedding I have coming up…with some nice heels and some silver jewelry.

  14. I love the Kelly Dress in Black. I would accessorize it with a pretty necklace. It work be great to wear to an upcoming wedding. 🙂

  15. I so love sweater dresses. I would pick the Antonia dress and wear it to work with some comfortable heels. Simple and classic.

  16. I think the Nicole dress would be a great, kinda sassy work dress. I’d keep the accessories simple. Maybe some nice earrings and a nice heel.

  17. The Loren dress! I have gained more weight after the birth of my daughter, and nothing fits right. It’s made me feel very lumpy and unattractive. I need something in a bold color with va-va-voom lines to wear on a date with my husband. (To accessorize, I’d wear the gold earrings and necklace from my wedding. I’m not much of an accessorizer.)

  18. This dress was another want for me and I must say it looks very nice on you! I want, want, want the Daphne Wrap dress to wear with some platform sandals and sparkly jewelry.

  19. Love the sweater dresses! I also like the Nori skirt. Looks very versatile.

  20. Cute dress! I love the vintage floral dress. I think it would be great to wear to a summer wedding or event. I would wear cute wedges and keep the accessories simple.

  21. The Naomi gown is a vision of loveliness. I can only hope I would get to go somewhere suitable to wear it.

  22. I’m always leery of sweater dresses, so I appreciated your review of this one. I worry they’ll look bulky or be too hot, and you definitely put those concerns to rest for me. I have to agree that the belt is very cute.

The Igigi dress I’m particularly jonesing for at the moment is the Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress. It would be perfect for a romantic dinner on a tropical beach vacation.

  23. I would buy the gorgeousness that is the Naomi Gown. It is absolutely astounding. I just love it!!! I would wear it to a wedding that I have coming up and would be looking for any occasion, I can to show it off. The colors are so beautiful and it is absolutely romantic and screams elegance.

As for accessorizing, I have these beautiful drop earrings, with diamonds that are similar to the dusty pink color of the skirt, that I think would pair wonderfully. And as well to finish it off, a simple bracelet.

  24. I’m surprised it doesn’t fit your body type according to their site as it looks perfect on you!

Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress is the dress I want so I can make my husband take me out in it to our favorite restaurant!

  25. You look amazing!! I love the Kayden dress but I may need this one instead!!

  26. Ooh, that’s a gorgeous one (and you’re rockin’ the no-hair look!) I might have to get that one and wear one of my nummy pashmina scarves with it!

  27. I am longing for the long tropical maxi dress…so pretty and great for summer!

  28. I would get the Francesca dress in black, pair it with red heels, and die of happiness.

  29. Rainforest Paradise Maxi Dress is what I would choose. Nude sandals, as to not draw attention away from the detailing of the skirt. Pearl drop earrings, and hair in a sleek up-do to compliment neckline and my face shape. I would wear it to a New Year’s Eve event.

  30. This dress looks like so much fun! However I’ve got such a weakness for lace that I’ve got to pick the Leigh dress in red, oh so sexy! <3 With black patent heels that would be rad!

  31. The dress looks awesome on you! I would want the Justine Lace Dress in Deep Orchid. I would wear it to the theatre with silver strappy sandals and silver earrings, necklace and bracelets. I would wear my hair loose and flowy and have plum shadows on to match.

  32. You look fabulous in that!!! I love Igigi and right now I’m eyeing the Trina Pants in Charcoal for work. I’d wear them with all of my suit jackets and shells. I have 2 other pair of Igigi pants and they fit like a dream.

  33. Oh my goodness this dress! It has everything i need for a dress to wear during the winter. 3/4 sleeves, knee length, tied around the middle. I would wear this to my family christmas party!

  34. This dress looks great with your hair, Jorie!

  35. I would so love to have the En Vogue Vintage Polka Dot Dress in black! I’d pair it with a red shrug for a splash of color for work and take it for a night look without the shrug. This would be perfect for summer weddings, graduations, just about anything! I LOVE this dress!!!

  36. I’d wear the Rainforest maxi dress with understated but chic matching accessories to my (also plus-sized) friend’s wedding!!
