Eileen learns to float in Igigi!

Wendy let us know that if we agreed to write a review, we could pick out a piece of Igigi fashion to wear at Weetacon which was then ours to keep. I saw Igigi fashions at the previous Weetacon and they looked to die for. So, even though I’m not a dress up kind of a person, it sounded too good to pass up. I wasn’t even daunted by Wendy’s idea of doing a fashion show. I dutifully sent in my first, second and third choices to Wendy and crossed my fingers.

We were instructed to send in first, second and third choices. I picked out 3 wonderful dresses, any one of which I’d be thrilled to own. This is despite the fact that I almost never wear dresses, I’m a jeans and tshirt kind of gal.

Fast forward to Weetacon and I was excited wondering which dress I would get to wear. Wendy announces that Igigi has sent not just our first choices, but some of us received our second and third as well! The amount of excitement and pure squealing that went with the announcement had people hanging out of windows trying to see what all the excitement was about.

I was expecting to wear one dress in a fashion show, no big deal. All of a sudden it was a full blown Event! Waiting in line for my first turn on the “catwalk” I was nervous. I don’t usually dress up. Black slacks and a dressy blouse are more my speed. As soon as I started walking into the room I felt transformed. I felt like a million bucks, I had a huge smile on my face and I believe I was actually strutting when I hit the room. I was met with smiles and applause as I did my turn around the room. I felt wonderful!

Then came the mad flinging of dresses on and off in the stairwell, the run to get back in line and repeat the fabulosity. It was the highlight of Weetacon for me and best of all, I got to take the dresses home with me.

My hands down favorite is the Carmella dress (above)! I love the length, love the wrap that actually fits, love the ample sash that can be tied so many ways, love the twirly skirt. For years, even though I love lacey things, I have had a strict “no lace” rule due to the scratching. The lace on the Carmella is soft on my skin yet looks nice and crisp as it should. It is very likely I will be buying other lace lovelies from Igigi now that I know how skin friendly they are.

My only regret with the Tres Chic  in Plum  (above) is that I didn’t have black hose to wear with it. I also think some kind of chunky necklace would have looked wonderful.(note to self: must acquire accessories) Like the others, it is a dream to wear, floaty and drapey and so very comfortable. It doesn’t show as much cleavage as the others making it suitable for work and interview situations.

Every formal dress I’ve ever worn was tight in the wrong places, falling off the other places, hot, itchy and scratchy. Hence my dislike of dressing up. Putting on my Kristina gown (below)  was a revelation. I loved wearing it. The little peek of red is lovely and the dress itself flows beautifully. I must confess to taking a little extra twirl in the middle of my strut in the fashion show.

For the first time in my life I own a wardrobe of dresses, suitable for all dressy occasions including chaperoning the prom. They are beautiful, fit well, and most important, are incredibly comfortable.

Even better, I get to help spread the Igigi love by giving away a $50 Igigi gift certificate to one commenter chosen at random on April 7th. Just make a comment on this post and I will use some kind of fancy random number generator to pick a winner. Couldn’t be easier! You can also have more chances to win by checking out the other reviews too!

  6. Those dresses all look amazing on you hon!

Although I’m starting to jones for the lace dress now that you’ve answered the all important scratchy-lace question. 🙂

  7. Eileen! Your award was so well-deserved! You look gorgeous!

I’m eyeing the Bardot jacket and pencil skirt. I’d like to teach looking like a grown-up instead of a student teacher with next to no clothes budget. 🙂

  8. I was perusing the ‘sale’ section and fell hard for the Kimberlee Lace dress — everything on the website is so gorgeous and refreshing.

  9. You look so lovely! I love Igigi – I’ve posted on all of the reviews about my love for the Sachi dress in merlot, the Gloria in bordeaux, the Misaki…and more. Can’t wait to see you in April!

  13. What lovely dresses! I would LOVE to have a chance at winning the GC. Thanks for hosting the givewaway!

  14. Tres Chic is a treasure, that’s for sure! Good point about the lace on Carmella–it is a pleasure to wear.

I’ve got my eye on the Elianne Top in purple or perhaps raspberry flambe to wear to work, as black lace is not really office appropriate here. 🙂

  15. I think the Boulangerie Wrap Dress is lovely. I would wear it to work (and maybe even on a date with my honey!)

  16. That Carmela dress is fabulous! I would pick the Nina or Sachi, I think.

  17. I love the Angie dress in lilac. I work in a very professional area of Washington, DC, and always feel so constrained to dress pants and nice shirts. The Angie dress would make me feel so much more confident among the well-dressed women downtown. And of my God, those Lourdes earrings! Those will get some attention!
(And that Camella dress is AMAZING!)
