Kari reviews her Igigi dresses

As part of the 2014 Weetacon event, I was very generously gifted not one, but TWO gorgeous Igigi dresses!  I was ecstatic!  Over the MOON to hear this amazing news!I’ve heard from all the ladies at Weetacon that participate in the Igigi events over the years, and experienced first hand last year when I had a chance to model the Skye Dress at Weetacon how truly amazing their dresses are. Now, I’ll tell you a secret.  I’ve worn a dress 2 times in the past 13 or so years.  I wore both last year, and both were Igigi dresses!  That’s right, Igigi drew me out of my dress funk, the funk that plagues many of us full figured gals; The Fugly Dress Funk.  Now, I’m not saying that ALL of the plus sized clothing manufactures out there are guilty of creating fugly clothing, but a large majority of them need to get their ducks in a row. Igigi is not guilty of this sin, and their dresses are just amazing!

I was sent both the Danni Dress and the Garnet Dress in Crystal. I chose both dresses based on my figure style; I’m an oval.  I used the awesome ShapeStylist option on Igigi’s website, and it is a really neat tool to use.

Ok, I’m going to be frank.  I’m shaped just like the little tea pot; short and stout.  Most clothing does not fit me well off the rack.  Going into this, I knew the dress would need some alterations.  I ordered the 26/28 based on my top half.  My girls are large and in charge, so I wanted to be sure that I wasn’t falling out with every breath I took.  The dress definitely needs some alterations in both the length of the dress and in the arms.  Overall, I am very happy with the dress – the colors are gorgeous, I really like the faux-wrap style of the front, it skims my curves.  After some alterations, I’m looking forward to wearing this dress for Easter Sunday brunch.

Unfortunately, the Garnet dress in Crystal did not suit me well.  Again, I ordered the 26/28 and the dress was way too big.  The discrepancy of sizes between the two dresses was bit surprising.  It was way too long, and it had no shape on me.  I don’t know if I’m shaped not quite an oval, or if this dress dress doesn’t quite fit the oval, but it was disappointing.  I really liked the colors and pattern of the dress, the faux-wrap style, and the cut.  The dress also had a long thread snagged in the neck seam.  Which isn’t a big deal, but with a dress of this quality and price, I expect all threads to be clipped neatly and taken care of.

All in all, I am very happy with my adventures with igigi. AWESOME!  Thank you igigi!

  1. The Danni looks great on you, very striking!

I want the Domani coat, I need a spring/fall jacket that fits well. I also want the Greenwich top in all the colors, I love that shirt!

  2. It is funny how different dresses can fit so differently. I want the Hatyleigh or the Wren wrapdress for a fudnraiser.

  3. You are so hawt no matter what you are wearing! I would love the Tiffany dress in either jade or pink. I feel like I have 11 bagillion weddings this summer and need to look cute! 🙂 Love you!

  4. The neckline of the Garnet is so flattering on you! Know that every single celebrity ever has all their clothing tailored to fit them, and so your need for this just ensures potential super-stardom.

I think the Beryl dress in chartruese would be a workhorse in my wardrobe. All the ladies at the networking group I coordinate would find it fabulous.

  5. I like the Fayette dress or the Nencia Cocktail Dress.

  6. The Danni looks wicked good on you.

I’m hoping the Monroe or the Elizabeth pants look as good on me.

  7. Take those dresses to your tailor! The cut and neckline is good for you. I bet a little alteration would make it perfection. I am hoping for the Deora to be an addition to my wardrobe.

  8. You look great!! I really love the Cadence Dress in Black. I would wear it to my college graduation in May.

  9. Yes, definitely go for the alterations. I have to keep reminding myself that Stacy and Clinton always admonished their clients that alterations are almost always necessary for a great fit. I’m anxious to make the Deora mine and will happily get the length altered to be the perfect length on me for work. 🙂

  10. Yeah, that Garnet is not playing nicely with you; I would never have guessed it’s the same size as Danni–that one looks great now and will be be superb with a little tailoring.

I’m coveting the Luella Tunic for work; my office is not really a dress environment (though I suppose I could be a trailblazer in that area).

  11. Agreed: The Garnet does nothing good for you, but the Danni is adorable! I’ve got my eye on the Thalia gown in Rose Garden that’s in the new Look Book, or the Jadyn Maxi Dress. Either one would be perfect for my high school reunion this summer!

  12. Too bad about the Garnet not meeting your expectations. I do like the print/colors.

I’m looking to expand my workwear collection, I would love to own the Monroe Skirt in Navy, and the Belmont Skirt in Ebony Damask. A Mena Jacket in Navy would also be great!

  13. The Danni dress looks good on you. I personally love the Fayette dress in Merlot. So pretty for a nice dinner out.

  14. I hope you get that Garnet dress altered because it would be so cute on you if it fit right! And apparently I’m all about long dresses lately because I am craving so many of the IGIGI maxi dresses….especially the Amare that just came out because DAMN that thing screams summer fun!

  15. The Danni is gorgeous on you! I’m lusting after the Janus dress in pink pindot. Mostly because I like saying and typing “pink pindot”, but also because it would look great at work and give me an excuse to buy pink shoes.

  16. Such pretty dresses on you! I’m looking at the Vintage Polka Dot for summer.

  17. Gorgeous! I must have the Letta Dress in Mandarin Rose.

  18. Oh, I adore the Garnet on you!

It is hard to narrow down my favorite to one. I love the nico skirt in midnight sahara (with matching top) and the jadyn maxi dress (I LOVE blue and purple!) My niece is turning 1 in a couple weeks, so a brand-new pretty dress would be terrific to wear to her birthday party. (I’m also eying the christina maxi in mint floral for an “every day” look.)

  19. Meinani dress would be awesome to wear on vacation this summer. The colors are amazing.

  20. I’d choose the Isis dress because it would spiff my work wardrobe up a bit!

  21. I need to stop looking at these reviews, the Danni is awesome.

I really want the Linea Plus Size Maxi Dress in Vermillion. That color is gorgeous.

  22. I love both of the patterns! I was totally leaning towards a skirt or top earlier, but now I’m kind of dying to try a wrap dress – specifically, the Neve dress in blue floral!

  23. I love that you’re honest about needing alterations. I’ve finally gotten honest about most of my dresses needing to be hemmed up!

I really love the Janus pink pindot. it looks sleek and sexy for cocktail hour or date night.

  24. I’ve seen you wearing igigi dresses that worked so well that I’m sure a tweak would be just enough for these…
I’m looking at the Gisela if I can order the last one they have! http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/wedding-dresses/gisela-wedding-dress.html

  25. I’ve seen how igigi dresses can work on you, so I think tailoring would work… I have my eye on the Gisela for my wedding! http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/wedding-dresses/gisela-wedding-dress.html
